Health Insurance – What you should know?

1734 views

As an insurance agent, I would like to share some important points before deciding with which health insurance company to entrust your well-being in Ecuador.
I asked this question to one of my clients who worked for many years in the insurance world in United States. That is what she said.
1. Financial Statement of the Company.
Knowing the financial status of the company is very important, it is the way to know if the insurance company has been solvent, and what is its current financial status
The financial statements of the companies are public information. That is, you can access these data by entering the Superintendencia de Compañias y Seguros, here is the link .
2. Ability to pay claims.
This point is basic, insurance companies must have sufficient liquidity to be able to reimburse their clients. This information is also available in the previous link.
For example, if a client is 68 years old, and the monthly premium is 70 dollars. Coverage is $7,000 for each illness, and a $60 deductible, it looks amazing. But, what if something major happens, to a lot of clients, at the same time; the company pay its customers’ claims? Does the company have sufficient liquidity?
3. How long is the company in business?
It is important to know how many years the company has been established in ECUADOR. Something curious is that to open a new company in Ecuador is not difficult, anyone can do it with a fairly low investment capital.
So it is something that should not be overlooked.
4. Customer service
You can have health insurance with the best company in the world, but it is useless if you do not have the support of an excellent insurance agent and broker, who has experience and has a very good relationship with insurance companies.
For example, when a client buys a health policy from me, I will be the person who will take care of him. If you have an emergency, you contact me, there are no intermediaries, the relationship between my clients and me is very close.
