Recommendation for Daniela Cordero/Cuenca Expat Insurance, medical/health insurance

Recommendation for Daniela Cordero of Millennial Broker’s Cuenca Expat Insurance

We have been using the services of Daniela Cordero for over a year now and she has been a great help to us. We were new expats at the time and choosing medical insurance was confusing and daunting. Daniela provided us with a medical insurance recommendation with BMI Iqualas Medicas and explained very clearly what our options were and helped us every step of the way. As far as service, she has gone the extra mile, even bringing paperwork and refunds to our home at times. Her English is excellent, which is a big plus for us, as we are still learning to become fluent in Spanish.

BMI has been a good company for us as well. What influenced us in our choice was not being limited to a particular network of medical providers. Not being familiar with any of the doctors here, it was important to us to keep our options open. During our first year with them, we have been satisfied with the coverage and were happy that they paid some claims that we were not sure would be covered.

High rates of return + safety/security

Because many readers may not be familiar with Cooperco, I’d like to introduce this exceptional co-operative to you. Established in Cuenca in 1965, Cooperco has, until now, been focused almost exclusively on servicing the Cuencano community. That exclusive emphasis has begun to shift. In addition to continuing to serve the Cuencano community Cooperco, in 2020, expanded its capability to now include a strong initiative serving Cuenca’s international community. Starting from a decidedly strong base, Cooperco has only grown stronger. It is the cooperative that offers CDs with not only high rates of return but unparalleled safety and security of principal. That’s a combination that is hard to beat.

Cooperco has numerous offices throughout the city of Cuenca. We have English speaking account personnel that can easily explain our numerous CD options and, more importantly, how Cooperco provides a clear investment advantage. Check us out. Learn how Cooperco can help to make the difference for you. There is a reason that countless individuals as well as many financial institutions invest with us. We may not be the biggest but we are definitely the best. Call or email me for more information.

Cheers.

Jazz Society Cafe`s awesome breakfast!

We are so fortunate to have this place just a few minutes walk from home. We signed up to their lunch and dinner delivery for months and we love every bits of it. Now that we are fully vaccinated, time to dine out and pay our food provider a visit to thank them personally for feeding us for months while we stayed home. We had a wonderful breakfast in a very lovely place and wonderful people. Debby and James are from the Philippines along with several Venezuelan and Ecuadorian staff, will be there to served your healthy and delicious meals. Our next visit will be the live jazz performance. We recommend to everyone!

A Very Special Spot-Sunrise Cafe

Lunch today was at one of our favorite spots in Cuenca. Sunrise Cafe! It was heartwarming to know Orlando and his great bunch of folks had been able to stay afloat during the pandemic. It was even more heartwarming to see his (almost grown up) daughter helping her dad. We have been lucky to have been with Orlando since he started Sunrise and to report his food continues to be awesome. Do yourself a favor and head to Sunrise Cafe and support a wonderful family who is truly an integral part of life in Cuenca. Oh and my favorite, Fish and Chips, was just as scrumptious as ever. Yum Yum Easy to find on Calle Larga just before Benigno Malo. Breakfast and Lunch. Everything is delicious.

Monica Gonzaga The best Facilitator in Cuenca

Recommendation for Monica Gonzaga, the visa facilitator
Monica has done beyond excellent work helping me with both my visas. First my temporary visa two years ago, and just recently with my permanent visa. Both times I’d be lost without her, as Ecuador (both times!) within a few weeks before my appointments changed their visa laws. Completely unforeseeable.

The first time I didn’t have Monica’s help until months later, and it wasn’t until I got in touch with her, we could sort things out. So that within what should have been my legal rights I could apply for another kind of visa (professional).

It has been very stressful at times, but thanks to Monica everything worked out well. Could not recommend her more. She’s apt, has contacts, care about her clients, and do everything in her (legal) power to help and find solutions. Hope you get in touch with her if you have any questions or need any help with your visa.

Sincerely, Julia W

Plant and Eat 100% Organic

Few people realize that although Ecuador is one of the countries with the greatest biodiversity and the origin of many world renowned fruits and vegetables; it does not product its own seeds. All are imported and poorly adapted to the different eco-niches of Ecuador, which means that they require pesticides and chemical fertilizers.

This now is changing as a retired professor of agriculture and genetics has spend 30 years developing seeds that are 100% organic, not hybrid and not GMO. He has teamed up with the director of an analytical laboratory, two ex-pats and many local farmers to begin producing and distributing these seeds. Now available are different varieties of tomatoes, sweet corn and naranjillas.
The first store to sell these seeds will open June 5th in Malacatos. Others are planned for Gonzanamá, Cariamanga, Cuenca and Quito.

Recommendation for Daniela Cordero, BMI Health Insurance

It is my pleasure to recommend Daniela Cordero with BMI Health Insurance. We signed up with BMI about 6 months ago. A couple of days after we signed up with BMI but before we paid our first premium, I had a bee sting. About 5 hours later I had a freak delayed reaction to the sting. I called Daniela in a panic and she got me a doctor who immediately came to our apartment for a medical house call. He was fantastic (and spoke English, a bonus).

A couple of months later, my husband had an infection with sudden fever that triggered his dormant leukemia. Again, I called Daniela who had a doctor come to our apartment who evaluated the situation and then arranged for us to go immediately to a hospital for tests and treatment.

I had great insurance and integrative doctors in the US, but I could never just call them and get an immediate appointment. In these types of emergencies, I would have had to go to an emergency clinic, incur emergency fees and would get pot-luck care. Here in Cuenca, I feel secure knowing that Daniela is part of our Health Care team.

Delicious Fanesca Ecuadorian Easter Soup

My friend, Dunia, has been making this traditional soup for 30 years. It really is the most delicious I have eaten any where in Ecuador. She is an excellent cook.

She makes it with eight different kinds of beans, sardines and/or fish, potatoes, two varieties of pumpkin, plantains and hard boiled eggs.

24 ounce container costs $4.50, which includes delivery.
Order extra, they freeze well.

To order, call her daughter, Katherine (owner of Telicioso Tea Room) at 098 315 2726. She speaks excellent English and can answer any questions you may have.

Happy Easter!
