2023 was our year to purchase permanent land for Ecuador’s most modern, animal shelter, and 2024 is our year to build and launch our community Spay-Neuter campaigns for Cuenca’s homeless street dogs.

At FAAN (Fundación Familia Amor Animal) we have been gifted with a New Year’s $20,000 matching grant by our benefactor to raise the needed construction funds to build the shelter quickly and move our dogs. Right now at the temporary shelter with the rains, conditions have worsened and there is great urgency for us to build quickly. We think we can do it with your help through this January matching grant.

We are overwhelmed by individuals and businesses who have already joined our PAWS Circle of Benefactors so we can realize the Foundation’s dream announced a little over a year ago, which includes not only the new shelter for the most vulnerable dogs but education on responsible pet care, prevention and creating a culture of Adoption.

Visit us at to donate your matching gift for double impact or ask to meet personally with a FAAN volunteer regarding the Foundation’s mission and roadmap. We would also love to talk with you about volunteering with us.

There was something magical about the landscapes of Loja, Ecuador. Between mountains rising like ancestral guardians and cobbled streets whispering stories of centuries past, the beauty of this corner of the world intertwined with its challenges. It was precisely in one of these challenges that Marta, an unsuspecting traveler, encountered an unexpected turn of events regarding vehicle insurance.
Marta, a natural-born adventurer, had decided to explore mystical Loja in her own vehicle. The freedom of the road offered her a canvas of possibilities, but as life often reminds us, not all stories are fairy tales.
One sunny afternoon, as she zigzagged through Loja’s winding roads, destiny wove its intrigue. Suddenly, a peaceful intersection turned into the stage for an accident that would shake the foundations of Marta’s journey.
The culprit, a hurried driver who had mistaken haste for negligence, tried to persuade Marta to accept a deal without involving the authorities. He offered her a sum of money that, according to him, would “resolve” the issue. However, despite the shock and stress of the moment, Marta remembered to call her insurance advisor, who guided her from the very beginning with guidelines that ensured her vehicle and herself would be safe. Her broker acted promptly and called for assistance to tow the vehicle to the nearest workshop… continue reading

Happy New Year from Energia Nativa!

As the local representative for Ecoflow Power Stations, we would like to put some thoughts out there. Before you invest your hard earned money into an alternative energy system, be sure to ask the following questions. What is the brand I am considering – does it have a reputation? Can I read reviews? Is it self contained or do I need several parts and pieces to make it work? Can I really use all of my household appliances and tools, or only very low wattage ones? What is the warranty and is it realistic to think that service or replacement is available here? Ecoflow hits the mark on all of these and more. The Ecoflow brand is consistently in the top ten for reliability, innovative features and simplicity of use, and carries a two year warranty. The blackouts may be over – for now – but climate changes promise that uncertainty is our foreseeable future. Ecoflow promises a long term, reliable, solution.
Everyone’s needs are different, and for that reason we offer several options in the Ecoflow line, as well as other solutions for more commercial application. From a battery back up that will run your office equipment and localized lighting to whole house solutions (including the freedom to be completely off grid, should you choose to be), we have you covered.
