Selenium is a mineral and naturally occurring trace element in the soil, water, and some foods. It is also an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damage caused by oxidative stress.

Selenium is critical for many essential bodily functions, including metabolism and the immune system. Since the body can’t synthesize selenium, you must get adequate amounts from your diet and supplements.

IV infusion is ideal for getting selenium and other nutrients because it skips the digestive tract and is directly absorbed into the bloodstream.

The intravenous administration of this mineral via Selenium IV is highly recommended for several reasons. Selenium regulates critical metabolic functions and can fight oxidative damage caused by free radicals. It can lower individual susceptibility to illness and is also indicated to support vital bodily functions.

Symptoms of selenium deficiency include:

Hair loss
Fatigue
Mental fog
Weakened immunity
Fertility issues
Weight gain

BENEFITS
Slows the progression of age-related skin and body concerns
Boosts immunity
Minimizes oxidative damage

Schedule your in-home IV on the day and time that suits you best.

Cost of IV $60 + $5.00 transportation fee

San Pedro is a medicinal plant with a rich history spanning thousands of years. Despite its relatively low visibility as a psychotropic agent in mainstream culture, this Andean cactus holds significant importance in native Andean traditions and healing practices.

The primary psychoactive compound in San Pedro is Mescaline. While various alkaloids interact with specific neuroreceptors in the body, San Pedro primarily affects dopamine, adrenaline, and serotonin production.

Described by many as “dreamy,” the San Pedro experience is characterized by gentle euphoria and heightened tactile sensations. Effects typically begin within 2-3 hours of ingestion and can last 10-14 hours. San Pedro facilitates deep introspection, often leading to energizing and remarkably clear experiences, despite occasional moments of confusion.

Originally known as Huachuma or Aguacolla in Quechua, San Pedro is renowned for its ability to heal the heart and strengthen one’s connection to nature & community. Symbolized as a loving, paternal energy, this Andean cactus is associated with San Pedro, the male saint believed to hold the keys to heaven. San Pedro offers a subtle, non-dramatic approach to psychedelic healing, making it one of the most profound yet underexplored treasures of local medicine for healing and spiritual connection.

For those interested in experiencing San Pedro medicine, here are three simple recommendations that can guide you for an enjoyable pscyedelic/power plant medicine experience:
1) Be present,
2) Focus inward, and
3) Breathe into what the medicine shows or has you experience.

Perros de Esperanza Try Outs May 4th!

Cuenca has many amazing dog owners and we may have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you and your pup!
FAAN is thrilled to partner with Social Vision in Perros de Esperanza.
Vetting of Pup candidates and their owners will be on Saturday, May 4th at Parque de la Madre at 10 AM by Social Vision and FAAN.

You and your guy or gal might be perfect candidates for a new initiative to bring Dog Love to hospital patients in Cuenca. Do you have a loving, tranquil dog that is good with kids and adults, and knows basic commands? One of our pet owners had this inquiry “My dog knows no commands but he just loves on anyone he meets.” Our response: “Yes, bring him. We are looking for dogs who will be safe and loving in a hospital environment.”

If you and your pup are approved as candidates, training will be provided on Saturdays, and a testing trial in a local hospital. Volunteer schedules will be flexible.

Meet Teddy, our first Perro de Esperanza who enabled us to get approval for this special project.

This is a great way for you and your best friend to volunteer with FAAN and Social Vision. Please write us and let us know if you can meet us there.

What does Hogar de Esperanza do with your donations of clothing and household items? First and foremost, we give them away to those who are most in need of them. Great care is taken to make sure that they get exactly what they need. Any extra items are sold in Esperanza Thrift Shop, where all of the proceeds go back into directly supporting the foundation’s work of helping those in need.

Are you moving soon – perhaps across town or maybe even back home – and you have items that you can’t take with you? Do you wish you had someone to come carry away those items remaining after your moving sale, that you don’t know what to do with? Were you just spring-cleaning last week, and came across clothes in your closets that you no longer wanted? If you would like to do some incredible things with those items you no longer need or want, let us turn them into something valuable to help those in need.

We accept anything that you wish to donate, and put it to immediate use. You can come by the thrift shop, which is located at 8-28 Juan Montalvo y Mariscal Sucre, to drop off items Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 5:30 PM. We also do pick-ups of donations, so feel free to contact us to arrange a time. Thank you so much for your support of Hogar de Esperanza – we could not do any of this without you.

Lymphatic draining is a manual massage technique that stimulates the body’s lymph and interstitial fluid flow.

This method consists of gentle motions made with the fingers and palms of the hands on the whole body. Those motions are made toward the lymphatic flow to create a pumping effect by changing the exerted pressure. This method is often combined with pressotherapy equipment, which allows different pressure points to be exerted simultaneously.

Lymph flows through lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes, which filter waste the human body produces. Unlike the blood system, the lymphatic network isn’t activated by the heart, so it must rely on breathing and body movements to eliminate waste and toxins from the body.

The interstitial liquid is the clear liquid that occupies the space between blood cells and capillaries. It provides nutrients to the cells and releases them from their waste.

Benefits
Excess weight and a lack of muscle activity can interfere with lymph flow and weaken the body. Bad lymphatic flow can cause swollen limbs, leg heaviness, cellulite, stretch marks, and other unwanted effects. Lymphatic draining is therefore used to stimulate a deficient lymphatic flow and reduce these unwanted effects.

Lymphatic drainage is a technique that can be performed as part of comprehensive care. The movements are usually slow and soft and vary according to the method used. It is performed on the body with oil, like a massage on a massage table.

If your visa has expired and you are irregular, pay attention to the following recommendation:

DO NOT pay any penalty at Immigration, because if you do, they will give you 30 days to leave the country. Currently, the payment of the penalty does not guarantee that you can apply for a visa, you must leave the country.

If you are irregular but have plans to apply for a visa, wait, there will be a new date for regularization very soon. After the provision for regularization is published, you will be able to pay the penalty.
