Join us for six-week session which begins on Monday, April 29th – June 7th, 2024
Our goal with the oral approach method is to involve our students and others who are learning Spanish in experiences that provide the opportunity to know more about the daily lives of people, and learn about the culture through classes in group, lectures and optional students’ trip.
We have multiple levels to accommodate everyone. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced, with sub-levels in each of them, so that a student finds their appropriate level. Classes are shaped around these elements and activities: comprehension, interest, involvement, and meaningful repetition.
Each class includes 18 hours of instruction over a 6-week period and meets twice per week for 1.5 hours, and comes with story books and handouts.
Cost $100.
Optional Activities:
Every class session we have optional cultural lectures with local artisans, artists, archaeologists, and other people with knowledge of the cultural legacy and natural wealth of the country.

FAAN is thrilled to partner with Social Vision in Perros de Esperanza.
Vetting of Pup candidates and their owners will be on Saturday, May 4th at Parque de la Madre at 10 AM by Social Vision and FAAN.
You and your guy or gal might be perfect candidates for a new initiative to bring Dog Love to hospital patients in Cuenca. Do you have a loving, tranquil dog that is good with kids and adults, and knows basic commands? One of our pet owners had this inquiry “My dog knows no commands but he just loves on anyone he meets.” Our response: “Yes, bring him. We are looking for dogs who will be safe and loving in a hospital environment.”
If you and your pup are approved as candidates, training will be provided on Saturdays, and a testing trial in a local hospital. Volunteer schedules will be flexible.

What does Hogar de Esperanza do with your donations of clothing and household items? First and foremost, we give them away to those who are most in need of them. Great care is taken to make sure that they get exactly what they need. Any extra items are sold in Esperanza Thrift Shop, where all of the proceeds go back into directly supporting the foundation’s work of helping those in need.
Are you moving soon – perhaps across town or maybe even back home – and you have items that you can’t take with you? Do you wish you had someone to come carry away those items remaining after your moving sale, that you don’t know what to do with? Were you just spring-cleaning last week, and came across clothes in your closets that you no longer wanted? If you would like to do some incredible things with those items you no longer need or want, let us turn them into something valuable to help those in need.

Lymphatic draining is a manual massage technique that stimulates the body’s lymph and interstitial fluid flow.
This method consists of gentle motions made with the fingers and palms of the hands on the whole body. Those motions are made toward the lymphatic flow to create a pumping effect by changing the exerted pressure. This method is often combined with pressotherapy equipment, which allows different pressure points to be exerted simultaneously.
Lymph flows through lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes, which filter waste the human body produces. Unlike the blood system, the lymphatic network isn’t activated by the heart, so it must rely on breathing and body movements to eliminate waste and toxins from the body.
The interstitial liquid is the clear liquid that occupies the space between blood cells and capillaries. It provides nutrients to the cells and releases them from their waste.
Benefits
Excess weight and a lack of muscle activity can interfere with lymph flow and weaken the body. Bad lymphatic flow can cause swollen limbs, leg heaviness, cellulite, stretch marks, and other unwanted effects. Lymphatic draining is therefore used to stimulate a deficient lymphatic flow and reduce these unwanted effects.
Lymphatic drainage is a technique that can be performed as part of comprehensive care. The movements are usually slow and soft and vary according to the method used. It is performed on the body with oil, like a massage on a massage table.
