On Aug. 25 & 26, Azuay Community Theatre (www.actseats.com) is performing “Trumbo: Red, White and Blacklisted”—a dramedy about Dalton Trumbo, the famous screenwriter who stood up to the bullies and fearmongers of the #HollywoodBlacklist.

Paco’s Blues will be renting a big comfortable touring bus (this year with a bathroom) and heading to Vilcabamba on Friday August 25th and returning Sunday August 27th.

The cost will be $35 per person (round trip). This is for the bus trip only and you will need to make your own hotel reservations.

It will be great time to go to Vilcabamba, since it gets cold in Cuenca in August!

Animal Lovers: Grab Your Treasures for FAAN’s Auction Palooza

So just what is a Palooza?
Palooza is a portion of the word lollapalooza which is a late 19th-century term defined as “an extraordinary or unusual thing, person, or event; an exceptional example or instance.”

FAAN (Fundacion Familia Amor Animal) is using Palooza because we think FAAN’s GALA FAAN-TASTICA with dining, entertainment, and silent and live auction on October 7th at Estancia Rosario will be extraordinary as our guests.

Gala FAAN-TASTICA will be Cuenca’s Charity Event of the Year and all funds from the auction will go directly to the building of Ecuador’s first modern animal shelter.

In this workshop, you will learn Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT Tapping) for yourself and for your pets.
EFT is an easy, simple tool that you will learn and then can apply to yourself or your pets to help with a wide variety of issues.

Barking, behavioral challenges, pain, illnesses, fears, separation anxiety, picky eaters, going potty inside, scratching furniture, and pretty much anything you can think of. For yourself, you may be experiencing body pains, fear of heights, fear of speaking, deeply rooted behavioral patterns you just can’t seem to break, weight loss challenges, etc….

Please do not bring your live dogs or pets to this class.

Once you learn this simple process you will be able to use the techniques directly on your pets, or with the use of a stuffed toy you may be able to use it on behalf of your pet. And you can finally make the changes in your own life that have seemed so challenging…

We will have some stuffed toys for you to learn and practice with. If you have a stuffed toy (teddy bear, dog, cat, or anything with a head and limbs) please bring it with you.

This is FAAN’s first call to Ecuador Businesses and individual community members wishing to help make Cuenca known as “The City the Cares” about Animal Welfare.

FAAN volunteers are now on a treasure hunt for the Gala’s Auction Palooza which will be the home stretch fundraiser for purchasing land and building Cuenca’s first US standard animal shelter.
Yes, our 150 + dogs are losing their current home at the end of the year, and we’ve been working night and day to make sure they have a new permanent sanctuary to go to.

For businesses, your venue or service will be promoted to our community both on the night of Gala FAAN-TASTICA and in pre and post-event promotions including our magazine.

For animal-loving community members, here’s your opportunity to help these abused, abandoned, and senior dogs at our shelter by designing a special experience or donating one of your treasures. From art and antiques to vacation homes, services, private dinners, jewelry, and gift baskets, we’re already amazed at Cuenca’s creativity and generosity.
Surprise us! All funds raised at the auction and gala will go directly to the building of the new shelter.
