The Cuenca Symphony Orchestra and the National Ballet of Ecuador are teaming up to present three ballet performances of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The ballet will be performed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights at the Carlos Cueva Tamariz Theater on the University of Cuenca campus.
According to production director Rubén Guarderas Jijón, the ballet will feature a special adaptation of the music by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. According to Jijón, this will be the first-ever ballet performance of Romeo and Juliet, the the famous tragedy of Verona lovers, in Cuenca.
Tickets are on sale for $10 at various locations around the city as well as at the Carlos Cueva Tamariz Theater box office. All performances are at 8 p.m.
