In commemoration of International Women’s Day, Miguel Illescas Gallery is inaugurating an exhibition of two women artists from Cuenca.
Enjoy an artful evening, with live music and a beautiful art show entitled “Reflections.”
This show will feature the works of Maité Eusebio, originally from Peru, and Janda Grove, originally from the U.S. These women are both oil painters and share feminine sensitivity.
Maité Eusebio paints of the beauty of fruits and flowers, or sometimes beloved landscapes, carefully rendered, with both tenderness and exuberance of color. She reminds us of the miraculous in the mundane, and the sacred space of our home and the landscapes we love.
Janda tends to paint figures, mostly from imagination, expressing a sense of reverence and mystery for the divine nature of the feminine. Some works are “real” and some are more fanciful. Suggesting more than defining, her works convey emotions and allow interpretation and contemplation. “Sisterhood” and “Passages” have been recent themes.
This show will continue through the month of March.
Meet the artists on opening night this Friday at Miguel Illescas Gallery, Calle Larga 1-209 y Miguel Ángel Estrella. Starts at 7 PM.
