Premiere:

The Laboratory of Contemporary Dance and Choreographic Composition of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cuenca presents its new work: Winter, 10 ways of feeling cold, directed by Ernesto Ortiz, in collaboration with the Department of Culture and the Contemporary Dance Company of the University of Cuenca. The project has the artistic support of the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra and its Contemporary Music Ensemble.

Winter … is a work of contemporary dance in which the corporalities and personalities of twelve dancers, an actress and seven musicians, are conjugated, intensely and harmonically, in a proposal that covers ten seasons / scenes sustained by a strong physicality and a lively rhythm that build a compelling stage speech.

Based on several contemporary techniques of dance and choreographic composition, the work dialogues in its vitality with the music of Johan Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Philip Glass, Cacey Cangelosi, Reynaldo Arce and Arvo Pärt in arrangements and direction by Marcelo Villacís, as well as with texts written for the piece by Zuzana Smetackova and Ernesto Ortiz.
