Making Music in Cuencalandia – Free Concert – September 27

September 27, 2018 all-day

Songwriter David Naccari (native of New Orleans and resident of Cuenca for five years – that guy with the ukulele) celebrates the recording of 14 original new songs here in Cuenca with a free concert of live and recorded music. Many expat and Cuencano musicians appeared as guest artists in the recordings of these songs including Sarita Flautista, Paco Vélez, Peter Boynton, Michael Wanner, Jeff Jones, Luis Carrión, Felipe Barcelona (from Uruguay), Janette Olson, Walter Hook, John Cain, Stephen Liggett, Karla Grether, Luis Carrión, and Cristabell Aguirre .

It’s hard to pinpoint David’s musical style which has sometimes been described as country, folk, pop, rock, humorous, and even children’s music, but it’s always engaging. David’s first recorded song, “Katrinalaya” (recorded and released in New Orleans in 2005) has been added to the permanent archives of the Smithsonian Museum of American History. You can hear lots of David’s music on You Tube. Here’s one example:

The talented Andrea Cantos from Venezuela will open for David at his upcoming Lirón Lirón concert. Master guitarist and multi-talented musician Paco Vélez (from Cuenca) will back David. Admission is FREE but reservations are highly recommended. Thursday, September 27, 7:30 p. m., Lirón Lirón Bar and Restaurant, Gran Colombia 9-41 y Benigno Malo, Cuenca.
