Titular – El GAD del Azuay ya cobró parte de deuda (The Azuay GAD has already collected part of the debt) – The new prefect of Azuay, Yaki Pérez, was surprised when the Board of Eléctrica Centro Sur approved a $17,200,000 second installment on a debt to Azuay Province for purchases of shares. Centro Sur also paid $10 million in 12/18 and Pérez wants to know where that money is or how it was spent. The total debt repayment of $49,815,200 was to have been used for his road plans.

End of “Chalecos rojos” at IESS – The hospital workers wearing red vests at the the IESS hospital are there to help patients, especially the elderly, pregnant <Did you know that if you’re human and pregnant, you’re embarazada; but if an animal is pregnant, it’s pregnante (I think)>, disabled, and catastrophically ill, navigate the system. They will be gone at the end of the month. <Why?>

Pensions – A citizens’ collective, Quinto Poder Somos Todos, started collecting signatures to eliminate the monthly annuities to ex-presidents and VP’s. <Since so many seem to leave office carrying bags of cash or numbers for off-shore accounts, will they really miss their government pensions of $4,255 or $4,022?>

University spaces – The demand for university admissions is not being met. 21,000 students applied for 3,600 spaces at the U. of Cuenca. All together, the city’s 4 universities have 9,700 spaces. Careers in high demand include Medicine, Architecture, and Law.
