Exposición – An exhibit of paintings, covering a half century of work by Jorge Chalco opened today at the MMAM.

Book launch – <This is for you nature lovers> “Latitude 2o 54′ Sur: Fotografía de Flora y Fauna” by Juan Francisco Cordero López was launched tonight at the Alianza Francesa. Over a two year period, the author took pictures of plants and animals of Ecuador, some at risk of extinction.

New lookout tower – The community of Ñuñurco in El Pan canton is building a viewing platform at the top of the Ñuñurco hill with 360 degree views. There is also a sculpture of the Divino Niño representing the Catholic faith in the community. Ñuñurco is located next to the vía Paute-Guarumales-Méndez. The path to the hilltop is narrow but relatively short and you will be in direct contact with nature . <In other words, a country mile. Relatively short to people used to tramping about the countryside for long distances? Wear comfortable shoes; a warm, waterproof jacket; bring water, etc.>

Titular – 6 millones de textos se imprimen al año (6 million texts are printed per year) – Publisher Don Bosco celebrated 99 years in business Wednesday. It publishes educational books including the iconic LNS dictionary, and employs 161 people.

Debts to city – You have until lunes, 25/3 to pay any bills owing to the city since 2/4/2018 without paying fines and/or interest. On the 26th, you will have to pay the bill plus any interest and/or fines. “Diezmos” – Complaints were leveled at Marcelo Cabrera, a candidate for re-election as mayor, and Esteban Bernal, candidate for Prefectura for taking “diezmos.” Both are part of the Igualdad movement (Lista 82). Cabrera was accused by an ex-employee of ETAPA and Bernal by a the director of the Unidad Popular Movement. Both candidates considered this dirty campaigning and that the accusers should take their proof to the justice system.
