Tetralogía Sinfónica del Rock – Thursday, mañana y sábado a las 20:00, there will be a symphonic rock concert in the teatro, Carlos Cueva Tamariz. Performers will include the U. of Cuenca symphony orchestra, its Coro Polifónico, and a rock band. They will interpret music by 4 legendary bands, <That’s why it’s a “tetralogía” symphony. Look it up. I did – live and learn.> Guns N’Roses, Scorpions, Pink Floyd, and Queen. Cost: $10.00.

Titular – Ruta tranviaria seguirá vacía (Tram route will continue empty) – The mayor announced that because of 3d party causes, there is no definite date for the Tranvía to start carrying passengers. Palacios will go before the Tribunal Arbitral in Santiago, Chile to try resolve the the Consorcio CCRC’s claim. The signal light system along the route needs to be revised because it isn’t synchronized. <That was my worst nightmare – the tram has a green light, and so does vehicular cross traffic. AND that little green walker is telling pedestrians to go for it, too.> While the system is not operating, trains will receive maintenance to prevent deterioration and operators will receive intensive training to get their type E license. They will be taught road safety, transit laws, risk prevention, first aid and other fundamental aspects. <Nothing about customer service? At least they won’t be able to stop 6 feet away from the curb to pick up passengers.>
Vacant houses – Abandoned houses have become foci of insecurity in various sectors of the city. The city has a map of abandoned houses in the Centro Histórico. The Federación de Barrios is asking the National Police to go look at abandoned and deteriorating houses and go through the procedures to get court orders to enter the houses and get rid of the crime. This plan would start in Los Trigales where there are various uninhabited houses due to landslides.
Mine -The Ministerio de Energía y Recursos Naturales no Renovables de Ecuador (Ministry of Energy and Non-Renewable Natural Resources of Ecuador) announced that the “Cascabel” underground mining project in Imbabura has a large potential for extracting gold, copper and silver. It is big enough to be counted as one the largest mines in the world. It would mine the most silver, the 3d most gold, and the 7th most copper in the world.
