The developer, Favorita Corporation, says the site of the new complex will serve a busy area of Cuenca in the Avs. Don Bosco, Premero de Mayo, Loja, and Las Americas area. “Our studies showed that this part of the city is under-served by commercial services,” said Santiago Santos, regional manager Favorita. “This new center will fill that need and shopping for residents more convenient.”

According to Santos, the mall will be filled by six to 10 of businesses in addition to Supermaxi, including a pharmacy and bank.

The $5 million, 6,500 square meter project will also include street level and basement parking, and will employ at least 70 people.

In addition to Supermaxi, Favorita owns Super Aki, Megamaxi and Su Casa stores in Ecuador.
