At D’Ellas Bakery, every product tells a story.

Behind each loaf of bread, every cookie, and every pie, there are women heads of household—strong, resilient women who work every day to provide a better future for their families.

They are mothers, caregivers, and fighters who have chosen to move forward with dignity, determination, and hope.

Thanks to the generosity and kindness of a dedicated volunteer, our bakers have learned to create the most delicious recipes—turning simple ingredients into something truly special.

Today, 100% of the bakery’s income is reinvested into purchasing ingredients and building fair and dignified wages for these incredible women.
Thanks to the generosity of a kind-hearted couple—true hearts of gold—we are excited to share that very soon we will have our own bakery space.

A place where you can not only order for delivery, but also come, sit, and enjoy a delicious dessert with a warm cup of coffee.

If you are filing for a Temporary/Permanent visa, I offer a 100% money back guarantee. That’s right. If I don’t get you your visa, you pay nothing. My name is Isabel Mosquera. I am an Ecuadorian, who studied and lived in Canada for many years. I have been a Visa Facilitator for over 7 years and have assisted more than two hundred and fifty Expats in obtaining their Visas, Temporary and Permanent, Cedulas, Translations, Health Insurance, housing and much more. These services are available as one fee package or individually. I own a car, so transportation is always included at no extra charge. I have always gotten my clients their Visas, even under the most difficult of circumstances, such as unreadable fingerprints for FBI reports. Have you moved to Ecuador without the required documents? Don’t worry, I can help. I offer free consultations, either by telephone, email or in person. I am at the Immigration office on a very regular basis, so I am knowledgeable about all recent changes in the law and am happy to share my knowledge with you. I will be happy to provide you with references.

I look forward to serving you.

To protect your investment in real estate in Ecuador, you should take into consideration the following:

1. The purchase and sale must be made through a public deed granted in an Ecuadorian notary’s office.
2. Some taxes must be paid by the buyer and other taxes must be paid by the seller.
3. The taxes and fees to be paid by the buyer are:
a. Municipality Taxes as buyer (ALCABALAS)
b. Notary Fees
c. Property Registry Taxes

4. The tax to be paid by the Seller is Capital Gains (PLUSVALIA).
5. You must make sure that the real estate is free of any charge or prohibition, by means of a certificate obtained in the Property Registry Office.
6. It is necessary to check if there are any outstanding debts on the seller name or on the property in the Municipality.

There are moments in life when things don’t fall apart… but they quietly become something different than we expected.

A move that didn’t feel the way you imagined.
A relationship that shifted.
A sense of belonging that changed.
A version of yourself you’re still getting to know.

It’s not always dramatic.

Sometimes it’s just a gradual realization that life looks different now,
and you’re learning how to be in that space.

Over the past months, I’ve heard versions of this from many people in our community.
Transitions. Uncertainty. Letting go of what was… while not yet fully rooted in what’s next.

That’s what “Good Grief” is about.

I’ve come to think of this as Good Grief — the kind that helps us place language around what’s changing… so something new can begin.

This Friday, I’m hosting a small, in-person gathering (a gentle, grounded space) for people navigating change, transition, or unexpected life chapters.

There’s no pressure to share.
No need to explain everything.
Just a space to sit together, reflect, and be in a room where this is quietly understood.

🕊️ Good Grief — when the life you imagined changes
📍 In-person gathering (free)
🗓️ This Friday, April 17th @ 3:00 pm (Abraham Lincoln Cultural Center, Borrero 5-18 y Honorato Vasquez)

If this resonates — now or in a quiet place you’ve been holding — you’re very welcome.

Feel free to message or DM me if you’d like to join or learn more.

If you have any gently used items you no longer need—clothes, jackets, shoes, luggage, small electronics, household goods, or even those “dust collectors”—please consider donating them to Jenny Alvarez.

Jenny is an Ecuadorian hardworking single mother of three who supports her family by selling affordable secondhand items outside Feria Libre. Zero help from the absent father. Every dollar she earns goes toward feeding her children—and even helping care for the many stray dogs in the community.

If you have items to donate, there are several easy options:
• Jenny can take the bus to you
• You can deliver items directly to her at Feria Libre
• Or I’m happy to pick them up and make sure they get to her. I’ll even send you a picture of the handoff

This is a truly meaningful cause, and I’m glad to volunteer my time and resources to help make it easier.
You can contact Jenny directly via text at +593 95 995 8110 (she will translate and respond), or message me at +593 96 324 7261 and I’ll coordinate everything.

If you’d prefer to drop items off, message me for a map of exactly where to find her, or meet her next to Feria Libre at the Tia/Titan store. She is standing outside of Feria Libre from 6:30 AM to 6:00 PM, rain or shine, on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Thank you for helping make a difference—it truly matters.

Recently it has been verified that many have lost the opportunity to be regular in Ecuador due to bad information received by some facilitators.
The Visa process is a legal issue that must be carefully handled and processed and strictly adhered to the law.

At FAAN, our mission goes beyond rescue. Through shelter, prevention, education, and our vision to build Ecuador’s most modern animal sanctuary, we are working every day to help make Cuenca the City that Cares for animal welfare. And sometimes, that mission means standing beside loving families facing incredibly difficult decisions.
Today, we ask for your help for one very special girl… Autumn. 🐾
Autumn is a beloved 13-year-young Labrador mix who has lived a life full of love here in Cuenca. Due to unforeseen life circumstances, her devoted “Papa” must return to the United States and, with a heavy heart, has entrusted FAAN to find her the very best new home—one filled with the same love she has always known.
✨ About Autumn:
• Gentle, affectionate, and wonderful with people and dogs
• Fully trained—responds beautifully to commands
• Leash-trained and reliable off-leash in safe spaces
• Kept in a comfortable short “puppy cut.”
• A calm, loving companion perfect for a peaceful home
In a special act of love, Autumn’s Dad is also offering a $100 monthly stipend to support her ongoing care.
Rehoming a cherished family member is never easy. In our community, we see how life changes—especially later in life—can lead to these heartbreaking moments. That’s why FAAN is committed to supporting both animals and the people who love them, every step of the way.
💛 If you have room in your heart and home for a loyal, gentle soul like Autumn, please reach out.

ALL CATEGORIES OF TEMPORARY VISA HAVE NO RESTRICTION OF STAY IN ECUADOR. To apply and to obtain the Permanent Visa, the Law in art. 63 establishes that the foreigner must stay 21 continuous months in Ecuador. On this continuity, the Regulation to the Law in art. 84 in the last paragraph, grants the foreigner 90 days to be outside the country within the two years of temporary residence.

In order to buy real estate in Ecuador it is important to know that the purchase can only be made through a Public Deed granted by sellers and buyers in a Notary’s office in Ecuador. After the purchase-sale deed is granted at the Notary’s Office, it must be entered in the Property Registry so that the purchase is registered in the name of the buyers.

It is necessary to be aware that if you want to buy real estate, a private contract won’t work even if you have witnesses signing with the buyers and sellers since the law establishes that the only valid document that demonstrates an act of purchase and sale of real estate or a vehicle is through a public deed in the case of real estate; and, contract in the case of vehicles, granted in any Notary of Ecuador.
