Have you had silver jewelry resized and/or redesigned? If you had a good experience, please share!

I have a Native North American piece I need to resize and have the removed extra pieces made into a necklace. It’s a signed artisan piece (silver & turquoise) and I would like to keep the original spirit of the piece, not a total redesign. Replacing a clasp, removing a section and put it on a chain.
