What’s a Chuzo, Where Can I Get One, and Why Should I Eat One??

A chuzo is an Ecuadorian barbeque sampler presented on a wooden plank and meant to serve several people. It is the signature dish of Chef Andrés Illescas Ortega, who graduated top of his class in culinary school.

On Friday, July 12 at 6 pm, you can attend a special event at Grill and Bakery Lucy in Chilcapamba to raise funds for Maria José Orellana, the executive Director of Hearts of Gold, who will undergo surgery to remove a dangerous deep-brain aneurysm (cost more than $14,000).

Your $25 Bakery and Grill experience includes a delicious mar y tierra array of grilled chicken, pork ribs, beef, fish, clams, shrimp, sausage, salad and potatoes, and choose your favorite flavor of artisan beers while being entertained by Sons of Mexico, a twelve-piece mariachi band!

Contact us at the email below to reserve your seat (or your table!) and let us know if you require driving directions or if you prefer to take advantage of our transportation plan. (Buses will leave at 5:15 pm on July 12 from Plaza Otorongo) A taxi charges about $3.50 from most points in Cuenca.

We feel sure that you will have an enjoyable and delicious experience while helping this 34-year-old mother return to her child and husband, and to Hearts of Gold, where she and her staff have done so much to help so many!
