Gather at the main entrance of the City Cemetery on Monday, May 27th, from 11:00 to 13:00. In remembrance of our brave men and women who have died for our freedom, we will lay flags at the city cemetery.

This is the first time the Ecuadorian fallen have ever been honored in Cuenca, and we intend to make it an annual event, much like in the United States. In 1941, Ecuador engaged Peru in battle. The loss of life was high. To pay our respects, there are four mausoleums and a handful of graves on which to place flags of both countries.

Join a few expatriates from the United States to place both countries’ flags on Memorial Day. Wear patriotic dress, and admission is free.
