Música – Soda Stereo will presenteded their show Soda Eterno Fri. in the teatro of the CCE.  Tickets on sale at The Moustache (av. Juan Iñiguez y Gonzalo Cordero).

Fotográfica – The photographic show “Silencio y Luz” (Silence and Light) by Juan Carlos “Tuga” Astudillo opened Fri. in the vestibule of the CCE.  The black and white photos are of landscapes, mostly of the Parque Nacional Cajas and are a reflection on current mining.

Film forum – “El Juego sucio” (The Dirty Game) is a film forum about a movie about the consequences of oil drilling by Texaco. It was Fri.at the U. Católica.

Libros – Juan Cordero Iñiguez, Cronista Vitalicio de la Ciudad (Life Chronicler of the City) is presenting Volumes 4, 5 & 6 of a 12 book series this coming Tues. in the Museo de la Ciudad.  The books are about the history of Cuenca from the cañari on. (Did you know that Abdón Calderón for whom the park is named, enlisted in the liberation army at 16, fought in the Battle of Pichincha and died from injuries at age 18.)

“Pinocho” (Pinocchio)– It will be Sat. at 11:30 in the sala “Alfonso Carrasco” at the CCE as part of the Escenarios del Mundo.  The Proyecto Escena artists wanted to stay true to the original novel and the performance mixes puppets, dance, theater and shadow plays.  Cost: $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for kids.

OSC – The symphony played Fri. in the Teatro Sucre.

Otras cosas – 

Titular – Trabajos durarán seis meses más (Work will last 6 more months)  The widening of the vía Cuenca-Azogues-Biblián is 88.33% complete, and the entrance to Azogues has been widened as well.  (If you’ve got to go to Azogues, at least you could have a good road to get you there and back faster.)

Public announcement – There will be a water service suspension tomorrow (sábado) from 7-20:00 to do work connected with the Tranvía.  The area covered will be between Estévez de Toral, Rafael María Arízaga, Miguel Vélez, Vega Muñoz, Miguel Heredia, Gran Colombia, León XII, 3 de Noviembre, Simón Bolívar, and Sucre.

Green space – Cuenca wants to almost double its green area by 2019.  It would increase from the current 5.6 m. per person to 11.0.  The plan would be a “Cinturón Verde” (Green Belt – your words for the day) and include the construction of 6 “megaparques.”

“Diario El Mercurio 10K” – The run will be on domingo starting at 9:00 from the calle Francisco Ascázubi door of the newspaper. Registration fee: $2.00.  It is being arranged by the Club A Correr.
