The FAAN Team will be presenting on the Foundation at this week’s Newcomers Meeting at Common Ground on Tuesday from 12 – 2 PM and will be selling final tickets to the Gala to benefit FAAN (Fundacion Familia Amor Animal) and the building of Cuenca’s modern animal shelter.

On Saturday October 7th, beginning at 12:00 and running till 5:00, La Yunta is hosting YapaFest 2023, an outdoor music and artisan festival. There will be bands spreading joyful music. Artisan vendors will be on hand with their creations, including craftwork and take away food goodies. Also, Helping Kids In Ecuador will be on hand with information on their work.

Let’s join together as a community of friends to support the arts and spread love.

Don’t expect high production, this event is just about artisans sharing their creations and musicians playing music on the lawn.

Entrance is $10 (yeah, I know, but the musicians need to be paid and we couldn’t figure out any other way to do it).

If you or anyone you know makes great artisan products and are interested in having a booth at this festival please contact Solé at La Yunta. Email is the best way to contact her at La Yunta.

Since the artisan booths will be in the parking area, parking will be VERY limited. Please consider coming by taxi, tranvia, or walking if you live nearby due to parking limitations.

A show by the French duo Catherine Vincent that brings to the present the magic of the cinema of the pioneers Georges Méliès and Lotte Reiniger. The fantastic stories and primitive special effects of Méliès, and the animation of delicate cut-out silhouettes of Reiniger are brought to life with their narration and voice, to which are added modern rhythms and emotions to the sound of their acoustic and electric guitars, tambourine, Indian harmonium and voices.
