To protect your investment in real estate in Ecuador, you should take into consideration the following:
1. The purchase and sale must be made through a public deed granted in an Ecuadorian notary’s office.
2. Some taxes must be paid by the buyer and other taxes must be paid by the seller.
3. The taxes and fees to be paid by the buyer are:
a. Municipality Taxes as buyer (ALCABALAS)
b. Notary Fees
c. Property Registry Taxes
4. The tax to be paid by the Seller is Capital Gains (PLUSVALIA).
5. You must make sure that the real estate is free of any charge or prohibition, by means of a certificate obtained in the Property Registry Office.
6. It is necessary to check if there are any outstanding debts on the seller name or on the property in the Municipality.

The Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social (IESS) has been essential for healthcare in Ecuador, but it is currently facing significant challenges that affect its service quality. What does Hogar de Esperanza do with your donations of clothing and household items? First and foremost, we give them away to those who are most in need of them. Great care is taken to make sure that they get exactly what they need. Any extra items are sold in Esperanza Thrift Shop, where all of the proceeds go back into directly supporting the foundation’s work of helping those in need.
Are you moving soon – perhaps across town or maybe even back home – and you have items that you can’t take with you? Do you wish you had someone to come carry away those items remaining after your moving sale, that you don’t know what to do with? Were you just spring-cleaning last week, and came across clothes in your closets that you no longer wanted? All foreigners of all nationalities who are irregular in Ecuador, on March 22nd 2023, the Presidential Decree was issued for the regularization of foreigners who are irregular in Ecuador. Note; for this regularization certain requirements must be followed, one of them is your registration at the link www.estoyaqui.ec
This regularization period will start on June 23rd, 2023 and will last 8 months for foreigners who want to regularize. The Regularization will be through an exception temporary residence visa or also called visa Virte.
