Hola, Todos –

Pagina cultural –

Today’s agenda events –

Recitales navideños (Christmas recitals) – The Department of Arts at the U. of Cuenca will perform on the 13, 15, 20/12.  For more info., go to www.ucuenca.edu.ec.  (It’s in Spanish but use your translate button.)

Articles about –

“Nómades” – The art project consists of a trilogy of works around the city as and alternative and experimental Bienal.  The first work is in the old jail using objects found when the jail was abandoned.  (I’m a Philistine.  What it looks like, is a pile of carefully selected and arranged junk.  And there were ceramic lavatories!  In a jail!)

Derecho constitucional (Constitutional law) – UDA Professor Sebastián López, Ph.D., wrote his thesis on the imbalance of power in the Constitutional Court which reinforces a powerful Presidency and creates a constitutional imbalance.  (Or something like that – upshot is the President gets what he wants.)

Homage – There will be an homage to musician Bolívar Sarmiento this viernes at 20:00 in the teatro Carlos Cueva Tamariz.

Ley de Cultura – One of the provisions of the law is bringing all the historical archives in the country to one location.  The Pres. of the CCE said the city needs to pass an ordinance saying the collections and documents in the city archives and in CCE need to stay in their city of origin.

“Casa Aparte” (Separate House) – The artists’ residence has a project called Cuarto Aparte (Separate Room) in which 12 artists will execute their works in one of Cuenca’s public spaces.

Otras cosas –

Titular – Tranvía: analizan ampliar emergencia (Tranvía: analying extending emergency) – See today’s (lunes) article in CHL for more info.

State of Las Américas – Drivers and pedestrians are complaining about the condition of Las Américas, especially next to the Tranvía.  The roadway is full of potholes causing drivers to maneuver around them.

Christmas celebration – 145 seniors who live in the Hogar Cristo Rey celebrated Christmas with their families.

Best chocolate – The best chocolatier in the world is Ecuador’s Santiago Peralta, founder of Pacari chocolates which has won the Best Chocolate in the World for the 5th consecutive year.  (And just think – it’s right there in the candy aisle at the supermarket.)

Park – The parque El Recreo (1 de Mayo y Gaspar de Carvajal) is almost ready, but no opening date has been set yet.  It was supposed to be ready this past septiembre, but was delayed when a change was made to the children’s play area.

Deportes –

Bodybuilding – the Gorila Classic 2016 was last sábado in the theater of the CCE. (You can take getting fit too far.  The winner looks like he’s wearing jhodpurs – the old fashioned, pre-Spandex kind.)

And that´s all for today so hasta el domingo –
