Latam ends its Ecuador to Miami service

Jan 31, 2017 | 0 comments

Tomorrow’s Latam flight from Quito to Miami will be its last, the airline officially announced on Monday. The airline’s decision leaves the non-stop South Florida routes to American Airlines, which flies to Miami, and Jet Blue, which flies to Fort Lauderdale.

Latam said it made the decision due to declining ticket sales and the entrance of Jet Blue into the market. It said tickets sales dropped from 363,027 in 2014 to 303,026 in 2015, and it expect another drop when 2016 numbers are tabulated.

Latam says it plans to concentrate on its South American routes and as well as its service to Madrid. In Ecuador, the airline serves Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca and the Galapagos Islands and says it anticipates no changes to those routes.
