City releases digital agenda of holiday events

The Cuenca Tourism Office has released the full schedule of events for the 199th celebration of Cuenca’s independence. The schedule includes more than 200 fairs, concerts, parades and sales and lists events for the entire month of November.

Mexico will have its own pavilion during this year’s CIDAP artisans fair.

Among the highlights of this year’s celebration are the November 1 National Music concert in Parque La Libertad. The concert features the performing groups Yavirac, Margarita Laso and Wachuka Tonic.

On November 2, the Emerging Music Festival will showcase Ecuador’s top rock bands at Alejandro Serrano Aguilar Stadium including Swing Original Monks, La Camaleón Machine, La Madre Tirana and Arena Helmets.

Also on November 2, the Huaynacapazo will feature a dozen orchestras and artists including Lady Laura, Maria de los Angeles, Cecy Narvaez, Rossy War of Peru, the Rosario Brothers of the Dominican Republic and others. The Huaynacapazo is held on three stages on Av. Huayna Capac and organizers expect a crowd of 40,000 to 50,000.

On November 3, the Chola Cuencana queen will be crowned.

Crafts and food fairs will be held in various locations in the city. The largest crafts fair will be in the CIDAP courtyard just west of the Hermano Miguel escalanta and Paseo 3 de Noviembre and along the banks of Rio Tomebamba. Other craft fairs will at the Otorongo Plaza, the Museo de los Metales and Terraza de Todos Santos.
