What 25 Years of Yoga Still Teaches

3086 views

Iván Navarro didn’t come to yoga as a young man. He was in his forties when the practice entered his life, during a period of grief following the death of his father.

Through a chance encounter, he was introduced to two Spanish women who pioneered yoga training in Chile. What began as classes soon became three years of daily life immersed in yoga, massage, and healing practice.

And something changed.

Years of insomnia and intense mental anxiety began to ease. His relationship with his body changed. So did his relationship with stress, emotion, and inner stability.

Those experiences became part of a much longer path of healing and spiritual work, both personally and professionally.

Twenty-five years later, yoga remains one of his foundational practices —not only for inner steadiness, but for maintaining mobility, strength, flexibility, and relationship with a changing body.

And the practice still teaches him.

One of its enduring lessons is humility: the body changes, circumstances change, and life remains fragile.

For Iván, practice isn’t about positive thinking alone.

It’s about showing up.

Moving the body.
Working with what is present.
Learning to meet life’s uncertainty with greater steadiness, awareness, and connection.

That is also why he prefers small groups: to know his students, adapt the practice, and support change over time.

Our 90-minute Integral Yoga classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at SOMA in Cuenca, at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM.
