If you are feeling disconnected from your body, emotions and loved ones and are looking for answers to a particular situation – or you’re finding yourself at a crossroads in life, and disconnected from your internal compass- come be reminded of the magic and beauty of life by joining me and a small group of like-minded people for a ceremonial San Pedro Medicine & Power Walk experience on Saturday April 27th.

San Pedro medicine is a safe medicine with a long-standing, thousand-year history in Andean culture. It’s a remarkable way to re-engage with the psychological and physical body, and to open up to the experience of healthy ‘dissociation’ – a term used to describe the mental process of disconnecting from one’s established patterns of thoughts, feelings, memories and/or sense of identity.

With the proper use of San Pedro medicine in a secure environment, you can experience a restorative shift in your perception of life, self, and current situations you are navigating. This allows you to re-engage with Life and loved ones from a centered place, and to meet any challenges with an open disposition and an invigorated sense of curiosity.

If you’d like to experience this transformative medicine for yourself, please send me an email to join us this coming Saturday, April 27th for an all day (and recommended overnight) experience.

Details:
27th, April, Saturday
Ceremony Start in Sigsig (75 min from Cuenca): 10:00am
Cost: $85
*Transportation & lodging options are available upon request, at an additional cost*

When Walt Disney was first building Disney, he instructed the construction team to “Build the Castle First”. Walt believed people including the workers and the public needed to see the Dream Destination to create the magic.

At FAAN we are embracing Walt’s philosophy. The Dream a year and a half ago was to purchase the beautiful land in Tarqui to build the first, modern animal shelter in Ecuador and indeed South America. Thanks to your generosity, we succeeded and can see and believe in that dream.

While we carry on with the daily work of adoption, education, and prevention, purely on donations and volunteers, we are asking you to Believe in the Foundation once again. Believe that by the end of the year, we will have raised the needed funds to build this shelter and sanctuary and move the dogs of FAAN, awaiting their Forever home.

Currently, we have a generous donor who will double your donation to our capital campaign while our building team is meeting with suppliers for donated and at-cost construction materials. The amount of donated materials we can obtain will greatly impact the budget.

Your donation this month with a dollar-for-dollar match will assist us greatly in our current negotiations with suppliers. Thank you for considering your gift to the foundation at this significant time for the shelter build and thank you for believing that we can truly make Cuenca known as “The City that Cares” about animal welfare.

What does Hogar de Esperanza do with your donations of clothing and household items? First and foremost, we give them away to those who are most in need of them. Great care is taken to make sure that they get exactly what they need. Any extra items are sold in Esperanza Thrift Shop, where all of the proceeds go back into directly supporting the foundation’s work of helping those in need.

Are you moving soon – perhaps across town or maybe even back home – and you have items that you can’t take with you? Do you wish you had someone to come carry away those items remaining after your moving sale, that you don’t know what to do with? Were you just spring-cleaning last week, and came across clothes in your closets that you no longer wanted? If you would like to do some incredible things with those items you no longer need or want, let us turn them into something valuable to help those in need.

We accept anything that you wish to donate, and put it to immediate use. You can come by the thrift shop, which is located at 8-28 Juan Montalvo y Mariscal Sucre, to drop off items Monday through Friday from 9 AM – 5:30 PM. We also do pick-ups of donations, so feel free to contact us to arrange a time. Thank you so much for your support of Hogar de Esperanza – we could not do any of this without you.

I profoundly respect each client’s individuality. I wholeheartedly believe in adapting my approach to meet your physical and mental needs. If you’ve been seeking a therapist who blends expertise with genuine care for your well-being and comfort, I am confident you’ve found the right fit.

My expertise extends into specialized areas such as deep tissue and sports massage, addressing rotator cuff and shoulder dysfunction, applying advanced stretching techniques, and relieving sciatica and lower back pain. I am also a specialist in relaxation massage and lymphatic drainage.

As a massage therapist, I offer my services in the beautiful city of Cuenca in the comfort of your home, but I am also available outside Cuenca if you need me.

Deep Tissue massage reaches deep into your muscles and breaks up the fibres that clump tightly together to form “knots.” I use several effective techniques that apply just the right amount of compression and friction along the muscle grain. These techniques are perfect for treating muscle damage from an injury such as whiplash or back strain. They help release toxins and break patterns of tension. Deep tissue manipulation decreases your muscles’ sensitivity to the demands of everyday stress.

I appreciate your interest. I look forward to bringing a touch of my hands and relaxation to your day soon!

The volunteers of FAAN are thrilled to share with Cuenca High Life Readers, the latest edition of FAAN Magazine.

Get ready to dig into this special issue with tips for pet owners, information on upcoming events, a spotlight on volunteering with FAAN, and an update on the building of the first, modern animal shelter in Ecuador and South America.

If you’re disturbed and saddened by Cuenca’s homeless dog problem in our beautiful World Heritage City and want to be part of the solution, we invite you to join us on a transformational and yet inspiring journey. We won’t kid you! It’s not a sprint but a marathon as we focus on long-term, evidence-based strategies including shelter, prevention, education, and adoption.

And while there are days when we find ourselves still in horrible rescue situations, we are seeing this transformation take hold, and know together, we are making Cuenca known as “The City that Cares About Animal Welfare.”

We hope you enjoy this issue and would love to hear from you.
As a note through the end of May, all donations to FAAN are doubled by a generous animal lover! This matching grant doubles your impact on animal welfare!

Come visit us as we celebrate the mission of feeding others. From our efforts to help provide over 5000 sandwiches a month to the poor in Parque Calderon to our efforts to provide a spiritual feeding to all who hunger for it every Sunday, ICC is
dedicated to focusing on others rather than own ourselves. Come be inspired by the hymns, scripture readings and message that encourage us to “Feed the Sheep of Christ” rather than our own egos and desires.

Join us for six-week session which begins on Monday, April 29th – June 7th, 2024

Cost $100.
Optional Activities:
Every class session we have optional cultural lectures with local artisans, artists, archaeologists, and other people with knowledge of the cultural legacy and natural wealth of the country.
