Last weekend´s organic and locally sourced salad special was a success and we will continue the special this Saturday and Sunday.
The main course will feature a generous salad made with organic vegetables from the APA Austro Market, topped with a dressing of real virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar. This special will be available on Saturday and Sunday for $5, or $6 with a glass of white wine, exclusively at our City Center location.
Please note that due to the ongoing blackouts and staffing issues, our Av. Loja location will remain closed this weekend. However, our Hermano Miguel location will be open from 8:15 AM to 5:00 PM, where you can enjoy our breakfast offerings, fresh pastries, and some of the best coffee in town!

Rescate Cuenca has GIrls! Girls! GIrls!
A grassroots organization of home rescues, Rescate Cuenca has saved 1700+ pets for loving homes. They aren’t as well publicized as other rescue groups, but are just as deserving.
Rescate helped me with a dog I rescued and couldn’t keep, finding her forever home. I supported Sky in rescue and continue to donate, as well as volunteer my English skills. The needs are always greater than the love, care, nutrition and vet bills the group provides.

In order to buy real estate in Ecuador it is important to know that the purchase can only be made through a Public Deed granted by sellers and buyers in a Notary’s office in Ecuador. After the purchase-sale deed is granted at the Notary’s Office, it must be entered in the Property Registry so that the purchase is registered in the name of the buyers.
It is necessary to be aware that if you want to buy real estate, a private contract won’t work even if you have witnesses signing with the buyers and sellers since the law establishes that the only valid document that demonstrates an act of purchase and sale of real estate or a vehicle is through a public deed in the case of real estate; and, contract in the case of vehicles, granted in any Notary of Ecuador.

To protect your investment in real estate in Ecuador, you should take into consideration the following:

What does Hogar de Esperanza do with your donations of clothing and household items? First and foremost, we give them away to those who are most in need of them. Great care is taken to make sure that they get exactly what they need. Any extra items are sold in Esperanza Thrift Shop, where all of the proceeds go back into directly supporting the foundation’s work of helping those in need.
Are you moving soon – perhaps across town or maybe even back home – and you have items that you can’t take with you? Do you wish you had someone to come carry away those items remaining after your moving sale, that you don’t know what to do with? Hello to all.
There are changes in the procedures for foreigners who wish to apply for a visa or for foreigners who have a visa but need to make other procedures with that visa, such as transfer, cancellations, obtaining an Ecuadorian ID (cedula) orders, and any other procedures. These procedures were centralized in Quito city, having to do the process online first to receive the instructions to be done.
It is expected that this change will provide a better and more agile service, but we must wait to see the results since it is known unofficially that after the approval of the visa, the process must be completed in the local Immigration office of the expat´s residence.

After sending a valuable book to the States I was devastated to learn from the receiver that the book had been destroyed by the shipping company. I put a claim into the shipping company and provided pictures that clearly showed the book was in perfect condition when shipped.
