What: WHAT WE CARRY: A Community Chakana Ritual for Remembrance
When: Sat, October 24, 2026, 10:00 am
Where: SOMA — José Ortega y Gasset & Av. 12 de Octubre
What does it mean to make space for those who came before us?
Casa Aguacolla invites you into a morning of remembrance, Andean cultural learning, ritual, and community.
At the center of the gathering is the Chakana — the Andean cross and a living altar practice carried within Tayta Iván Navarro’s work.
Together, we will build the Chakana in community, working with the four elements and creating a space for remembrance. You’re invited to bring a small offering for the altar— a flower, food, photograph, written name, natural object, or something meaningful in honor of someone who has died, someone whose memory remains present in your life, or those who came before you.
Tayta Iván will then guide a Chakana ritual, opening the altar and inviting reconnection with the elements of life. We will hold the ritual in relationship with remembrance, ancestry, and this seasonal Andean time of honoring the dead.
We’ll also share context around Aya Marcay Killa and Andean traditions of remembrance, followed by a communal four-elements harmonization, tea, fruit, rest, and informal conversation.
Optional early arrival: the first 10 registered participants may join a short pranayama practice at 9:30 AM.
