AgroAzuay organic market now open Sundays

The AgroAzuay organic market in Ciudadela Kennedy is expanding its sales to Sundays. Market managers said the decision was made due to the increasing number of shoppers.

There are 250 vendors at the weekly Ciudadela Kennedy market.

Over 250 organic vendors and producers participate in the market located at Av. Max Uhle at Andrade.

“It is important that the Cuencanos know that the fruit and vegetable we sell are farm-to-table and certified organic. This lowers the cost because there are no intermediaries,” said Auxiliadora Chica, a farmer from AgroAzuay.

The farmers expect that increasing the market days and offering competitive pricing will attract more customers. “We expect most Saturday and Sunday shoppers, between 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. We will be ready for them”, said Maria Mora, local producer.

Eduardo Idrovo, the AgroAzuay manager, said that full weekend shopping will take advantage of the increase in food production due to the workshops that AgroAzuay has been providing.
