For more than a year, a team of Expats, Cuencanos, and medical professionals has been developing the Cuenca Care Foundation (CCF)—a high-quality, medically supervised, bilingual home health care and support service for the Cuenca area. Planned services include post-surgical care, companionship and assistance with activities of daily living, palliative and hospice care, emergency call button services, and educational seminars of interest to seniors.
Based on guidance from the Ministry of Health and our legal advisors, CCF expects to receive incorporation as a community-supported non-profit foundation in late May, with services launching in Q4, 2026.
Significant foundational work has already been completed, including the development of nursing procedures and protocols; identification of required equipment and supplies; partnerships with local nursing schools; selection of an accounting team and client management and nurse scheduling software; and a successful initial fundraising campaign. This early support has validated strong demand for our services, particularly within the Expat community.
CCF is now seeking applications for its Executive Director. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide visionary leadership; oversee day-to-day operations; ensure regulatory compliance; build community partnerships; and advance the Foundation’s mission and strategic goals. In collaboration with a consulting Medical Advisor, the Executive Director will recruit, manage, and support a growing team that will include a Director of Nursing, a Director of Client Relations (social worker), an office manager, and nursing supervisors, auxiliary nurses, and home care providers.
During its first year, CCF’s clients will primarily be Expats. In years two and three, services will expand to support Cuencano families caring for elderly relatives.

If you are filing for a Temporary/Permanent visa, I offer a 100% money back guarantee. That’s right. If I don’t get you your visa, you pay nothing. My name is Isabel Mosquera. I am an Ecuadorian, who studied and lived in Canada for many years. I have been a Visa Facilitator for over 7 years and have assisted more than two hundred and fifty Expats in obtaining their Visas, Temporary and Permanent, Cedulas, Translations, Health Insurance, housing and much more. These services are available as one fee package or individually. I own a car, so transportation is always included at no extra charge. I have always gotten my clients their Visas, even under the most difficult of circumstances, such as unreadable fingerprints for FBI reports. Have you moved to Ecuador without the required documents? Don’t worry, I can help. I offer free consultations, either by telephone, email or in person. I am at the Immigration office on a very regular basis, so I am knowledgeable about all recent changes in the law and am happy to share my knowledge with you. I will be happy to provide you with references.
I look forward to serving you.

Saludos,

Hello to all.
There are changes in the procedures for foreigners who wish to apply for a visa or for foreigners who have a visa but need to make other procedures with that visa, such as transfer, cancellations, obtaining an Ecuadorian ID (cedula) orders, and any other procedures. These procedures were centralized in Quito city, having to do the process online first to receive the instructions to be done.
It is expected that this change will provide a better and more agile service, but we must wait to see the results since it is known unofficially that after the approval of the visa, the process must be completed in the local Immigration office of the expat´s residence.

Friday’s Good Grief gathering was a meaningful one.
A small group, a quiet room, and a shared willingness to sit with experiences that don’t always have language… those in-between moments where life doesn’t unfold the way we expected.
It was a really interesting mix of people, with different paths and perspectives coming into the space. And what stood out most was the depth that can open up when people come together like this; how quickly there’s a shared recognition of change, adaptation, and what it means to keep moving forward in unfamiliar terrain.
There’s so much to explore in how we each experience these shifts, especially in a place like this.
It also felt connected to conversations that have been unfolding over the past months around living abroad, navigating transitions, and building a life outside the expected script.
This is something I’ll be continuing.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be opening more spaces — both in-person and online — focused on solo living and aging awareness, with room for reflection, shared experience, and practical insight.
If this is something you’d like to stay connected to, feel free to message me.
Grateful for those who stepped into the room, and for what’s continuing to take shape.

According to current regulations, investments for Investor Visas in CD Banks, Real Estate, or Corporations must be at least equivalent to 100 times the basic salary of a worker in Ecuador. This year, the basic salary is $482, therefore, the minimum investment for any of the three options will be $48,200. If the investment does not meet this minimum, the applicant will not be eligible for a two-year temporary residence visa in this category.
Similarly, for investment substitutions, the investment amount must be adjusted to the current minimum investment amount.
