U.S. citizens living in Ecuador are invited to an informal meeting with the U.S. Consul General, Friday, May 29, 11 a.m., at the Abraham Lincoln Culture Center, 5 – 18 Calle Borrero. Consul General Douglas Griffiths will present information about U.S. Embassy and Consulate services to U.S. citizens and to answer questions from the audience.

More than 50 attended the last meeting sponsored by the Consulate, Sept. 25, 2008. Griffiths made a PowerPoint presentation of services available to U.S. citizens living in Ecuador. "One of our most important functions is to help U.S. citizens living abroad," Griffiths said. "We offer a wide range of services and we want you to know where to go for assistance if you need it."

At the September meeting, Griffiths also discussed relations between the U.S. and Ecuador and answered questions on such topics as the U.S. visa process for Ecuadorians, U.S.-Ecuadorian trade agreements, educational and drug interdiction programs and post-9/11 security issues.

Friday's meeting will be in the second-floor conference room at Abraham Lincoln Center.
