Continuing through September 30. Exhibition of paintings by Janda Grove, expat artist. This show features “Women: Real and Imagined.” Paintings of women from life or from photographs in small and medium formats, from California days and from Ecuador. Also, imagined expressions of women as reverent beings, walking through the passages of life. Some works are playful, others more serious. All are original oil paintings created with beautiful color harmonies. Is beauty now an act of rebellion in modern art? Do we need beauty – now more than ever? Are we that beauty?
A woman painting women. Reaching inward to find the essence of the many faceted feminine, and the sisterly love and support that holds our families and communities together. An honoring of the strong and tender women who have helped me walk my path through this life.
Not big, not shocking, not all bright colors, not sofa size.
