Conferencia – “Práctica de derechos de autor” (Copyright practice) will be the subject of a conference mañana from 16:45-19:15 at the CCE.

Conciertos – The OSC will perform Thursday and Friday a las 20:00 in the Catedral Vieja. On viernes it will play in honor of the Law Department of UDS, and on domingo, it will be part of the pre-activities of the fiestas de Cuenca in noviembre.

Conferencia – Sobrevuelo-films production company will hold a conference about Casting el viernes a las 16:00 in the Sala Comunitaria de Pumpungo. Cost: $10 and $20. <Gringo pricing? Maybe it’s to cover the cost of your translator.>

Titular – Prefectos defienden la forma de eligirlos (Prefects defend how they are elected)

La “Vuelta Batarías Kaiser al Ecuador” – This road race will be from 11-18/10. It will cover 1,197.6 km in 5 stages. It will pass through Cuenca on 18/10 in the stage that connects Azuay with Loja. The race starts in Pichincha and 60 drivers are expected.

Feria – “Toquilla, macana y orfebreriá” (Straw, ikat weaving and jewelry) will be in the UNE plazoleta (Pres. Córdova y Borrero) from Wednesday hasta el viernes.

Month of the Older Adult – The Universidad del Adulto Mayor is organizing events in honor of us geezers. Mañana a las 10:00, there will be a health fair in the parque San Sebastián with medical specialists providing free attention. There will be a conversation with poets and writers who are adultos mayores on 24/10 a las 15:00 in the auditorium of the UAM (Estévaz de Toral 9-5 y Bolívar), and on 27/10 there will be an event from 10-16:00 in El Otorongo.

Matricula – You can now get your car matriculas either from the EMOV office in the parque De La Madre or delivered to your house in the morning, mid-day or afternoon. Go to www.emov.gov.ec for matricula renewals starting in noviembre. For home delivery, you have to give present a copy of the matricula <the original one, which I hope you haven’t thrown out>, copies of your cedula and voting certificate. <If you don’t vote, just say so. Whoever is delivering the matricula can probably tell you’re a foreigner and/or old and not required to vote.>
