Lasso’s support drops in latest election poll
Two weeks ahead of Ecuador’s presidential runoff election, the Cedatos-Gallup presidential poll reports that the small advantage for center-right candidate Guillermo Lasso is shrinking. The Cedatos poll is important for Lasso since it the only one that has given him the lead over Alianza Paía’ Lenin Moreno.
In numbers released Friday, Cedatos reported that Lasso leads Moreno 50.8% to 49.2%, down from the 52.1% to 47.9% advantage he held three weeks ago. The new results are within the poll’s margin of error
Out of several presidential polls tracking the February 19 election, Cedatos proved to be the most accurate. The other polls predicted that Moreno would win outright and that there would be no runoff. Cedatos has also proven the most accurate in three or the last four presidential elections.
Other poll results for the April 2 runoff include CIS: Moreno, 53%, Lasso 37%; Perfiles de Opinón, Moreno 51%, Lasso 35.5%; and Diagnostico, Moreno 50.5%, Lasso 41%.
