“De abandonos, encierros y soledades” (About neglect, confinement and solitudes) – La Compañia de Danza Contemporánea de la Universidad de Cuenca will present this work today at 20:00 in the Teatro Carlos Cueva Tamariz.  (Doesn’t sound like it’s going to be a comedy.)

Catalogue – The Central Dogma Collective of Ambato will launch a catalogue of the exhibit “Del hazlo tú mismo al hagámoslo juntos (From doing it yourself to doing it together)  (There some activities for which that is generally true as long as you don’t do it in the road and scare the horses.) today at 19:00 in the Sala Proceso (Luis Cordero y Pres. Córdova).

Theater – the theater group Barojo will present “Juan de Tarfe – Cuenca en Cuentos” today and tomorrow at 20:00 in the centro cultural Sono (antonio Borrero 6-83 y Pres. Córdova.  Cost: $5.00.

Otras cosas –

La restauración del Museo Municipal Remigio Crespo Toral (The restoration of the Remigio Crespo Toral Museum) is 60% complete. Work on the museum, which is on Calle Larga at the end of Pres. Borrero, involves restoring almost 2,000 meters, including the gardens on Paseo 3 de Noviembre. The city says the project will be completed in November.

Portal Regional de Artesanía de Cuenca está listo (Regional artisans center of Cuenca is ready). Work on the center, located at Simon Bolivar and Huayna Capac, is complete and the complex will open next month and provide work and sales space for 85 craftspeople as well as classrooms. The two-story complex will include a cafe, bank, restaurant, and a landscaped garden.

Titular –

San Francisco Plaza merchants meet with city officials. The merchants association and city officials discussed the overall design of the project and a formal right to work agreement between the merchants and the city in a meeting on Tuesday. The city agreed to build a full-size sales kiosk so merchants can see the amount of space they will have to sell their wares.

Service for 2,000 telephone landlines will be canceled if overdue bills are not paid within eight days from Wednesday. City utilities company ETAPA will make the canceled phone lines available to the public.

Internacional –

‘Tres amigos’ se encuentran en Ottawa (Three friends meet in Ottawa). The presidents of Mexico, the U.S. and Canada met yesterday in Ottawa to discuss regional concerns. Among those were the NAFTA trade agreement, immigration, and the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump. U.S. President Barack Obama invited Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto to visit the White House in January.
