There’s an informational flyer in the paper on living with diabetes was given out and CCE had a press conference about the organization’s publishing plans for 2018.

Upcoming and ongoing agenda events –

Taller de fotografía – There will be a photography workshop on the 24 & 25/11 a las 14:00 in the collective “Cámara sin botón” (Francisco Aguilar y Mariano Estrella). Cost: $10.00 including materials.

Alianza Francesa – The organization is offering academic and artistic classes for all ages. For more information go to av. Tadeo Torres 1-92 y Solano.

Moda – There is a fashion exhibit by Cecilia Chabla in the Museo Remicio Crespo Toral until diciembre. The fashions are contemporary and based in an Andean identity. The exhibit is open martes-sábado during museum office hours. <Which probably means – don’t show up between 13:00 and 15:00 – we’re going to be having lunch.>

Concierto – The Gabacho Maroc group performed Tues. in the Teatro Sucre.

Sinfónica – The Contemporary Music group of the OSC performed experimental music Tues. in the Capilla del Museo de la Medicina. <I wonder if experimental means “Let’s play this stuff and see if the audience walks out.”>

Routes for cultural policies – A workshop started yesterday to flesh out an Ordinance for a Cantonal System for Culture and Use of Public Space.

Titular – Moreno anuncia cambios a su proyecto económico – (Moreno announces changes to his economic project) – Some of the changes include modifying income tax for childless people, increasing benefits for heads of households who are helping to support their parents <I’d say this is a government that’s supporting family values.>, increasing the amount of personal deductions in the case of catastrophic illness, something about increasing the amount that can be withdrawn in cash <without taxes?>, better incentives for new enterprises to pay their taxes, and eliminating or lowering the advance deposit on upcoming annual taxes.

Property taxes – The city will be reassessing property taxes in 2018. The reassessment is done every biannually.

Refugees – Ecuador presented the first cedulas to foreigners “en condición de protección internacional” (refugees) under the new Ley Orgánica de Movilidad Humana. <I wonder how long it will be for Canada and the rest of the world to see refugees from the US washing up on their shores. Cause you know most gringos are going to want to go to Canada where they don’t have to worry about learning another language or encountering a very different culture.>

Pres. of AP – The CNE ratified Moreno as president of the Alianza País. <There was a lot of other political stuff in there I didn’t understand.>

Foot reattachment – The “Vicente Corral Moscoso” hospital reattached a foot on a 19 year old who was in a traffic accident. 8 months ago they reattached a hand and the patient is back to a normal life.

Mercado 10 de Agosto – The changing of the cover over the market will be done in 15-20 days.

Internacional –

Venezuela – The country is not advancing in renegotiating its external debt. A meeting held with bond holders was mainly for Venezuela to tell them of its limited ability to pay. <Do you really think those bondholders hadn’t already figured that out? When it all shakes out, Venezuela probably won’t own a drop of the oil it’s sitting on.>

Vatican – Pope Francis will visit Chile and Perú from 15-22/1/2018.

Costa Rica – A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Costa Rica leaving 2 dead in Jacó on the Pacific side.
