“Paginas amarillas” (Yellow pages) – The City Department of Culture and Sports is assembling a yellow pages of creative services. So far about 300 artists and cultural managers have signed up to be in the directory which is open to all artists and cultural managers in the city including resident foreigners. If you want to be in the directory you have to be over 18. Get the registration form at https://goo.gl/3WoX9m or go to the 2nd floor of the Museo de la Ciudad (Gran Colombia y Benigno Malo). Free.

Titular – Adeptos a la consulta presionan ante la CC – (Supporters of the referendum pressured the CC) – Various social organizations marched to ask the Constitutional Court to qualify the constitutionality of the 7 referendum questions.

Tranvía – La Empresa de Desarrollo Económico (EDEC EP – The Economic Development Company) of the city has ended a survey of about 1,500 businesses near the Tranvía route. The survey was to get detailed information for giving credit so businesses can revive. The mayor said he hoped the contract would be signed Friday. <I guess I’ll find out tomorrow if that happened.> And 35 workers from GME-CITA are cleaning along the tranvía route.

“Vegan Day” – (Día Vegano) will be celebrated Saturday y el domingo in the parque El Paraíso. There will be 60 exhibitors with foods, music, art, and cosmetics made without animal products or testing. <Can vegans wear amber?> The organizers picked Cuenca which has the highest “index” of vegetarians and vegans in the country. <I don’t know if “index” means numbers or percentages.>

Mining – About 60 people from several communities in Pucará came to Cuenca to talk to ARCOM, the Mining Regulation and Control Agency; SENAGUA, the National Secretary of Water, and media (including El Mercurio) to get their voices heard. They are asking that mining for kaolin (a fine white clay used in porcelain) in the Lluragaypa an Rambar sectors be suspended. They say the mines are illegal, their crops and grazing fields are covered with powder so the livestock can’t eat, and the water is completely white.

Mall del Río – 24/11 from 10-22:00 – every space in the mall has to participate with minimum 40% off items, 2×1 offers, complimentary drinks or desserts etc. The Mall will fine non-participating merchants.
