U.S. citizen found dead Monday in historic district house

Police say that a male body found Monday inside a Calle Larga house has been identified as that of a U.S. citizen. Police said the dead man was about 48 years old.

Police say the cause of death appears to be alcohol poisoning.

According to acquaintances, the man was last seen Monday morning and a friend confirmed that he had been drinking heavily. The man’s name is being withheld until his family is contacted.

It is not known whether the man lived in the house where his body was found or was visiting.

The body was taken to the city forensic center for further examination. Dinased, the police forensic unit that investigates deaths and violent crime, is continuing an investigation.
