We will open by presenting ourselves to the ceremonial fire. Afterwards, we will take our first power plant medicine- rapé- to initiate the day’s ceremonies and to prepare our body and mind for deep connection. Following the rapé, we will ingest the sacred Aguacolla (San Pedro) medicine and rest as a group. After resting, we will go on a meditative nature walk as the medicine begins to take effect. Sigsig’s natural beauty and rich ancestral heritage is a perfect setting for a meditative experience inviting connection. Following the walk, we return to the sacred fire to rest and prepare for the temazcal experience. Following the temazcal medicine, we close our sacred space and enjoy fruits and tea around the fire.

Paco’s Blues will be playing at Restaurante Corvel in Paute on Saturday February 3rd. We are planing on getting a smaller 30 person bus this time because the streets in Paute are narrow and the bigger bus was somewhat problematic. Since you have been on previous Paco’s Blues trips (or somehow managed to get on our mailing list) we are sending you this early email to see if you want to come with us before announcing to the general public.

Whether you have recently moved or have been living here for some time, you should be aware that Ecuador is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire and is more prone to seismic events due to its location in a tectonically active zone. This leads to a series of challenges for homes and buildings in general, especially in the coastal regions, where the threat of earthquakes and tsunamis is a constant concern. We are a group of inclusive tennis players who play every Tuesday and Thursday at 9am you are more than welcome to join us.

2023 was our year to purchase permanent land for Ecuador’s most modern, animal shelter, and 2024 is our year to build and launch our community Spay-Neuter campaigns for Cuenca’s homeless street dogs.

At FAAN (Fundación Familia Amor Animal) we have been gifted with a New Year’s $20,000 matching grant by our benefactor to raise the needed construction funds to build the shelter quickly and move our dogs. Right now at the temporary shelter with the rains, conditions have worsened and there is great urgency for us to build quickly. We think we can do it with your help through this January matching grant.

We are overwhelmed by individuals and businesses who have already joined our PAWS Circle of Benefactors so we can realize the Foundation’s dream announced a little over a year ago, which includes not only the new shelter for the most vulnerable dogs but education on responsible pet care, prevention and creating a culture of Adoption.

There was something magical about the landscapes of Loja, Ecuador. Between mountains rising like ancestral guardians and cobbled streets whispering stories of centuries past, the beauty of this corner of the world intertwined with its challenges. It was precisely in one of these challenges that Marta, an unsuspecting traveler, encountered an unexpected turn of events regarding vehicle insurance.
Marta, a natural-born adventurer, had decided to explore mystical Loja in her own vehicle. The freedom of the road offered her a canvas of possibilities, but as life often reminds us, not all stories are fairy tales.
One sunny afternoon, as she zigzagged through Loja’s winding roads, destiny wove its intrigue. Suddenly, a peaceful intersection turned into the stage for an accident that would shake the foundations of Marta’s journey.
