Correa arrived in Rome Thursday morning following a trip to the U.S. while Sanders flew in this morning following a Thursday night presidential debate with Hillary Clinton.

On Wednesday in New York, Correa said he looked forward to meeting Sanders. “I have heard many good things about him and look forward to talking to him,” he said.

Correa was in Chicago and New York to launch a new English-language Ecuador tourism documentary and for a series of meetings at the United Nations.

In Rome, Correa and Sanders are participating in a forum celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Encyclical Centesimus Annus. Other participants include Bolivian President Evo Morales, Jeffrey Sachs, founder of Millenium Sachs, Rocco Buttiglione, a member of the European Parliament, Margaret Archer, professor at the University of Warwick, and Hsin Chi Kun, professor at the University of Hong Kong. The event features academic presentations on labor and social justice.

It is unclear whether Sanders and Correa will meet Pope Francis at the event.
