Hola, Todos –

Titular –

Capullito de amacay (Little cocoon of Alstroemeria) – <I’m not sure what that headline means since DeepL didn’t translate it and I had to search for each word separately.> Anyway, Guadalupe Romero was elected the Chola Cuencana for 2024-2025. She represented Sicay parish. For the 19-year-old who is in her last year of high school, the chola represents a strong and resilient woman. She was encouraged by her 92-year-old great grandmother to enter the contest. She lives with her grandparents since her mother is a teacher assigned to a school in the Amazonia. In addition to her schoolwork she helps her abuelos with their farm and livestock and dances with the ‘Antikuna Rikcharina’ group. She will work with youth to preserve the culture and traditions of the community.

Sucesos –

A la cárcel por robar en el ‘Huaynacapazo’ (Jailed for robbery in the ‘Huaynacapazo’) – The police detained 3 people with previous records for stealing cellphones. They were surprised ‘con los manos en la masa’ (with their hands in the dough (bread dough and not slang for money) caught redhanded – your phrase for the day). They were ripping phones out of people’s hands as they took pictures or videos. <I think if you’re taking a selfie, you don’t have the camera pointed at the criminal and you’re distracted and self-absorbed.>

Police were patrolling the event and the robbers had 4 cell phones for which they couldn’t justify their possession. They also had small envelopes totalling 4 grams of cocaine. Police called for citizens to take precautions during large events and avoid carrying valuable objects. They said if you bring children take extra care so they don’t get lost or become victims of other types of crimes against minors. Police will be maintaining controls until lunes, 4/11.

De El Mercurio del sábado, 2/11 (1 article):
Tres personas tuvieron que limpiar aceras manchadas (Three people had to clean up stained sidewalks) -La Guardia Ciudadana conducted an operation after complaints about vandalism around calles Benigno Malo y Larga. Cortes de energía serán de seis horas, desde el martes (Power outages will last six hours, starting on Tuesday) – The Ministerio de Energía y Minas announced that next week, from martes, 5/11 to domingo, 10/11, the blackouts will last 6 hours a day, nationally. However, the outages will be 4 hours in Chimborazo, Santa Elena y Esmeraldas provinces since flows have improved in the rivers feeding the hydroelectric plants in those zones. The reduction of blackout hours is due to the increase in flows of rivers feeding he Coca Codo Sinclair (CCS) plant. Inamhi has forecast more rain in the Amazonia where the CCS is located. It also forecast rain in the Sierra, including the Austro where the Paute hydroelectrical complex is.

And that’s all for today so hasta ? –
